#OOTD

Photography by Colleen Goldhorn

Me and probably all of America have been on a fitness kick since the new year. I've been so proud of myself for actually getting up every day and going to the gym. Not going to lie there are to things that make this happen... cute gym clothes and ClassPass. Seriously, sometimes I buy new gym clothes just to force myself to workout. Like, "Patricia, you have to go to the gym today so everyone can see those cute printed spandex pants you just bought."

The second though, ClassPass has helped me discover new workouts, studios and friends! Basically with ClassPass you pay $79/month (they just discounted it!) and get access to a plethora of gyms and studios in your area. I'm talking you can take barre one day, yoga the next and spin on the weekends. I love that it includes my personal favorite workout, Lithe Method too. While I was ClassPass let you take more than 3 classes per month at your favorite studio, I do think it's worth your money if you easily get bored, want to try something new or just are trying to actually find what works for you!

If you follow me on Instagram this #ootd may look familiar to you. That's because it was my birthday outfit last month. I'm sure all of you girls out there can understand how important a proper birthday outfit is, it's up there with prom (but like, every year). I mean it's something you'll look back and remember, not to mention have like a million pictures tagged all over social media with you wearing it.

Anyways, I love a big ol' girly glam full skirt... the twirl worthy kind. Ya know? Since the skirt had so much volume I balanced it out with a fitted crop top. It took me a year to find the perfect one. I love how it's off the shoulder. And the shoes... they're literally my favorite thing ever. Besides my dog...

Brrr... is it ever going to get warm again? Here in PA the weather has been chilly, snowy and icy. You can find me under a blanket, sipping tea while counting down the days 'til spring. It's that time of the season where I look in my closet and think, "I have no clothes" or at least, "I'm so over all these clothes."

Does anyone else feel the same? I can only layer so much without feeling like the Michelin Man, ya know? Plus, no one feels pretty when they're pale and cold.

Did you watch House of DVF? While I'm still mad at DVF's decision on her brand ambassador, I'd like to think this is an outfit contestant Kier would wear. Yes, I know, lots of people hated her and she's a bit over the top but I love her fun take on style. She's not afraid to be her girly self. I mean who else would have the guts to wear the huge gold bow in front of DVF (so not on brand, girl).

I got this Joa sweater on major sale, sorry it's no longer available. I adored the little bows... so quirky, so me. I wore this look to brunch with fam and my mother asked if I stole the sweater from a 5 year old. Thanks mom. Not everyone can appreciate fashion.

You know that leather dress that makes you feel like a total vixen but you can barely walk in it? Well that's this dress. Not that I'm complaining about the walking part... just trying to get into my jeep without tearing the (faux) leather. Regardless though, fashion is pain and if it makes you feel dynamite when wearing then who cares if you have to do a few extra sit ups before you zip up?

Do you have a dress that radiates the same feeling? PS I wore this outfit recently to a holiday dinner (see it here).

Here's the thing about me... I love expensive stuff but I also LOVE a good sale. It makes me feel like I'm getting away with something illegal. There's a thrill in the chase when you find that one classic cashmere sweater in your favorite color and your size for like $40... say what?!?!

Anyways, before I reenact the entire Shopaholic movie, that's how this outfit makes me feel. The sweater (which was the only one in the entire store) and skirt were a total steal from JCrew Factory. Aren't the outlets too fun? What's been your best shopping score ever?

There's no hiding it... Christmas is my most favorite time of the year. While some deck the halls in bells of holly, I prefer to deck my home in pink, green and blue. It's my first Christmas is my own home and I'm beyond excited to host both sides of my family the next two days. It's a bit stressful (insert 16 people into my little ol' #patriciaspalace) but I can't wait to feel the holiday cheer and make memories.

What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?

I think I've worn some version of plaid or tartan at least every other day in the past month. It's a holiday season must, as is this dress. I can't catch a break from running from one event/holiday party to another and this dress has been a life saver. I layered it with a blouse to make it more casual and went sans blouse for a dressier look.

I love the peplum detail for an insta-waist (hey, with all those Christmas cookies a girl needs some help). What's your favorite holiday dress?

Oh ps. I'm obsessed with this name chocker necklace my lovely fall intern Annie gave me. It's the perfect length!

So fun fact: I actually have two degrees. Over achiever, I know. The first obviously being communications with a focus in PR and the second being fashion merchandising, both from Immaculata. Oh and a minor in French, but who's counting. I highly recommend if you're interested in this fashion/lifestyle realm of PR to dual major. While I cursed under my breath during all those sewing and flat pattern making classes I now look back and can see how valuable the skills are. Due to them I  know how my clients products are made, why they might cost more than their competitors and have a greater appreciation for fashion.

During one of those sweatshop working apparel construction classes we had to make oxford shirts. It was probably the hardest thing I've ever done in my life...props to you designers out there. It may not be perfect, Sister Denise will be the first to tell you that. Other side note: I went to a Catholic university and was taught by nuns. Yes, even some fashion courses. Back to what I was saying though.... it's not the best shirt but it's my favorite. I love the fabric, buttons and fit but mostly the hours I put into it.

Sorry for the picture overload on this post but if you didn't know already, I'm obsessed with my dog. Fur reals, crazy dog lady status over here. Another thing I'm obsessed with? This Southern Proper hat from Tuckernuck. It actually surprises me how much I wear baseball caps lately as I'm basically the opposite of sporty. However, it's a great way to hide a bad hair day or just finish off a casual look.

#OOTD

I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I wear this outfit WAY too much than should be allowed. I've worn it out with friends, to church and this Her Main Line event at Jcrew. It's pretty much me in a preppy nutshell.

But what I love most about this look? And it's definitely not those pale legs (note to self: get a spray tan asap) is that I've accessorized with two of my fav young female entrepreneur ran businesses.

First there's Jessie Holeva, you may recognize her from various TV style segments or her blog Trend Hungry. She's a girl who's got her hustle down and I'm always inspired by her daring looks that are wallet friendly. Her newest labor of love is Bling Babe, a collection of the most divine vintage jewelry.

Then there's Samantha Cooper of Trend Tribe. Samantha is another lady involved with Levo who recently started Trend Tribe, a platform for college students to learn business, marketing, entrepreneurship skills and make a little extra cash. The jewelry is budget friendly and super fun.

I'm so lucky to call both of them my friends and inspiration to keep on moving forward!

#OOTD

Pink Tartan Jacket from Posh Collections (similar), Vince Top, Halogen Skirt, Prada Sunglasses

It took me years to find a leather jacket. Secret time... this one is actually faux but is the nicest one I've found and would fool anyone. I also wear it way too much. I often question how many times in a row I can be seen in it without someone thinking I've been robbed and this is all I have left.

Truth be told though it goes with everything. Edgy, glam, sporty, etc. It's also the perfect shade, almost gunmetal as it's sort of grey, sort of black. I've searched the internet high and low and can't find it anywhere! However give Posh Collections a call and hopefully they have your size in stock! Fingers crossed.

Confession: I haven't been a gym member in over a year. Yikes! While I was pretty dedicated to working out in college, the years after I've sort of been an uncommitted girlfriend. I'll join a gym for a month or two, get bored or busy and stop going then try a new one and the cycle repeats.

So far my favorite workout is Lithe Method though.  We had a Her Main Line event there last week and I'm reminded of just how much I like it... I just wish it wasn't almost an hour away! Anyways, while this isn't a workout outfit, I'd say it's sport chic. Or my own take on the trend at least. Athletic and comfy with the striped pants but still prim and preppy with the pointed heels and layered blouse.

Joie Top (similar), James Jeans, Tory Burch Booties (similar), Vintage Necklace (similar), Louis Vuitton Purse

Fun fact for the day, I'm a Capricorn (if you couldn't already guess). I'm a January baby so garnet is my birthstone and probably my favorite color to wear, especially come chilly weather. Another favorite of mine is vintage jewelry with a story. I'm actually wearing 3 vintage pieces in this post; my tassel necklace from my Mom- mom Kowal (also known as Mom-mom Foxy), a diamond ring that was my great-grandmother Mae's and a cocktail ring that makes a total statement from Mom-mom Maristch (aka Mom-mom Muffin).

Vintage/hand-me down pieces are special because they usually have a story behind them whether you tracked them down at a flea market and imagine some roaring 20s socialite wearing the piece or you received from someone special you actually know. They always make a good story. Do you have any special pieces?
