#OOTD

Photography by Colleen Goldhorn

If you follow me on Instagram this #ootd may look familiar to you. That's because it was my birthday outfit last month. I'm sure all of you girls out there can understand how important a proper birthday outfit is, it's up there with prom (but like, every year). I mean it's something you'll look back and remember, not to mention have like a million pictures tagged all over social media with you wearing it.

Anyways, I love a big ol' girly glam full skirt... the twirl worthy kind. Ya know? Since the skirt had so much volume I balanced it out with a fitted crop top. It took me a year to find the perfect one. I love how it's off the shoulder. And the shoes... they're literally my favorite thing ever. Besides my dog...

Want It, Need It

Sensi Studio Hat, NBD Dress, New Balance Sneakers, Anthropologie Blouse, 5th & Mercer Dress, Flight 001 Pouch, Vans Sneakers, Ferragamo Flats, Trend Tribe Necklace, Tart Collections Shirt

I think I'm still on a birthday high. I had the BEST weekend celebrating the big 2-5 with all my friends. The party turned out adorable. Check out some of the pics here. Seriously, the best. Now it's time to do some bday shopping. That birthday money is burning a hole in my pocket and I need something to commemorate a quarter of a century in age.

I'm looking at investing in a new designer handbag, Hermes bangle or wallet but in the meantime these little pretties will be perfect fillers. I've had my eyes on them!

#OOTD

Joa Sweater (similar), LK Bennett Shirt (similar), James Jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Purse (similar), David Yurman Bracelet, C Wonder Bracelet, Mae Movement Bracelet, David Yurman Ring

Did you watch House of DVF? While I'm still mad at DVF's decision on her brand ambassador, I'd like to think this is an outfit contestant Kier would wear. Yes, I know, lots of people hated her and she's a bit over the top but I love her fun take on style. She's not afraid to be her girly self. I mean who else would have the guts to wear the huge gold bow in front of DVF (so not on brand, girl).

I got this Joa sweater on major sale, sorry it's no longer available. I adored the little bows... so quirky, so me. I wore this look to brunch with fam and my mother asked if I stole the sweater from a 5 year old. Thanks mom. Not everyone can appreciate fashion.

#OOTD

JCrew Shirt, Susan Monaco Dress (similar), C Wonder Bracelet (similar), Posh Collections Necklace

You know that leather dress that makes you feel like a total vixen but you can barely walk in it? Well that's this dress. Not that I'm complaining about the walking part... just trying to get into my jeep without tearing the (faux) leather. Regardless though, fashion is pain and if it makes you feel dynamite when wearing then who cares if you have to do a few extra sit ups before you zip up?

Do you have a dress that radiates the same feeling? PS I wore this outfit recently to a holiday dinner (see it here).

#OOTD

Photography by Haley Cairo

Here's the thing about me... I love expensive stuff but I also LOVE a good sale. It makes me feel like I'm getting away with something illegal. There's a thrill in the chase when you find that one classic cashmere sweater in your favorite color and your size for like $40... say what?!?!

Anyways, before I reenact the entire Shopaholic movie, that's how this outfit makes me feel. The sweater (which was the only one in the entire store) and skirt were a total steal from JCrew Factory. Aren't the outlets too fun? What's been your best shopping score ever?

#OOTD

Photography by Haley Cairo (and handbag borrowed from)

So fun fact: I actually have two degrees. Over achiever, I know. The first obviously being communications with a focus in PR and the second being fashion merchandising, both from Immaculata. Oh and a minor in French, but who's counting. I highly recommend if you're interested in this fashion/lifestyle realm of PR to dual major. While I cursed under my breath during all those sewing and flat pattern making classes I now look back and can see how valuable the skills are. Due to them I  know how my clients products are made, why they might cost more than their competitors and have a greater appreciation for fashion.

During one of those sweatshop working apparel construction classes we had to make oxford shirts. It was probably the hardest thing I've ever done in my life...props to you designers out there. It may not be perfect, Sister Denise will be the first to tell you that. Other side note: I went to a Catholic university and was taught by nuns. Yes, even some fashion courses. Back to what I was saying though.... it's not the best shirt but it's my favorite. I love the fabric, buttons and fit but mostly the hours I put into it.

Patricias Palace: Living Room

Photography by Haley Cairo

Welcome to my home! Or as I call it on Instagram #PatriciasPalace. I bought my home almost a year and half ago but have only been living in it 1 year come March. As some of you know it was a "fixer upper" so to speak. That's an understatement. I've replaced the siding, roof, all the windows, floor, 95% of the drywall, knocked down walls and oh so much more.

Here's a sneak peek into the semi final living room. I am replacing the rug, cowhide chairs and adding curtains but you get the idea. I'm so happy with it all though as it truly feels like a palace to me and perfectly reflects my style. Shout out to all of my family and friends who helped in every bit!

Let me know if you'd like to see where individual pieces are from although I'll warn you some were DIYd or passed down and updated.

#OOTD

Photography by Haley Cairo

Sorry for the picture overload on this post but if you didn't know already, I'm obsessed with my dog. Fur reals, crazy dog lady status over here. Another thing I'm obsessed with? This Southern Proper hat from Tuckernuck. It actually surprises me how much I wear baseball caps lately as I'm basically the opposite of sporty. However, it's a great way to hide a bad hair day or just finish off a casual look.

Halloween Ready

Okay, so it's not Halloween yet but I'm one of those people (and apparently stores across the nation are with me) in believing it's never to early to start celebrating or planning for the holidays. Whichever holiday it may be! I think this outfit would be the perfect casual and modern way to dress up without spending a ton of money on a scandalous gaudy looking outfit. Don't be surprised if you see me wearing this exact look on October 31st.

Want It, Need It

You know you're old when your want list includes a hand mixer alongside your fall booties. When did my life become this boring and predictable? Actually I know the answer to that... when I was beyond thrilled to receive a new vacuum for Christmas last year. Recently I find myself buying 75% decor and home purchases and 25% clothing and accessories when I used to be in a fully committed relationship with fashion.

When did you first notice yourself getting "old" and what have you been purchasing lately?

#OOTD

Tee Shirt, Skirt (same brand, different style), Heels, Bracelet, ClutchBelt, and Necklace
Photos by Haley Cairo

Wahoo! Your eyes aren't fooling you... it's my first ever outfit post. I've had a lot of people ask and although I'm not 100% okay with being in front of the camera, I can't deny my beautiful clothes anymore. They just don't get to come out and play enough.

Once each week my ah-mazing go to photographer/illustrator/Youtube star/ Mae Movement owner/ friend/ client...you get the point... Haley Cairo will capture my favorite looks. Up first this whimsical little look inspired by Carrie Bradshaw.

PS. There's a big and fun (duh) Piqued PR x Haley Cairo collaboration coming soon!

Want It, Need It

Halogen Flats, Three Jane Necklace, Black Halo Jumpsuit, History In High Heels Pillow, Zac Posen Bag, J Brand Top, Julie Vos Earrings, Bare Minerals Lipstick, Trina Turk Candle, Grandin Road Chest

This might be the best "want it, need it" list to date. I literally just purchased half the things listed and plan on purchasing the other half asap. MAY-JOR! My favorite is the pink chest, I know it would be the perfect edition to #PatriciasPalace. Since there are no men to rule the nest I can't think of any reason not add as much pink as possible, right? Married friends I know your jealous on the inside...

Scallops Please

I live for feminine little details so a touch of scallops are a no brainer for me. While they're been longstanding in interiors I've lately been finding them on dress, shoes and even jewelry. With the chevron overload of past seasons I think a soft scalloped edge is a refreshing new spin, don't you?

Winter Chic

Call me crazy but all I've been dreaming about are the "Bean boots". Sure they aren't as glamourous as a pair of Loubs but they're an American classic and a cold weather staple. Imagine when the snow starts falling pulling on these over your trusted skinnies and pairing with a cozy sweater for cold weather chic. Yes, winter can look good... so good!

Pretty Little Details

Trina Turk Napkins, Furbish Ice Bucket,  LEIF Serving Set, Hobby Lobby Straws, Tassel Garland, Swoozies Wine Glass, Target Bar Cart, Society Social Wine Tote, Kate Spade Coasters, Design Darling Matches

Entertaining... there's certainly an art to it and while I'm not nearly as good at it as my friend Brittney of Hosting & Toasting, I'm getting there. The key I've discovered is all in the details. Even if you're serving takeout, all that matters is the pretty details and good company. Make it Pinterest worthy ;)

Orange Crush

Last week I posted a picture on my Facebook wall of an orange door, considering the option for my own. Let's just say the crowd went wild! While I didn't have enough courage for a year round #PSL door my obsession for the color hasn't faltered.

Business Babes

Patterns, colors and monograms are a must at the Piqued PR office so when I found La Plates on an interior design blog I was hooked. La Plates allows you to personalize entertaining with their products. They have everything from plates to cups in an array of prints and multiple hues all with monograms! I had to hear more about the brand from La Plates' owner Lara.
When and why did you decide to create your brand?
La Plates was born after I became a mother. I was tired of all the cartoon character plates – I knew there had to be a way to class up our tabletop using a kid-friendly material. I also wanted to create something that was reusable and durable, something my boys couldn’t break when trying to clear the table.

What is your background in and how did this help prepare you in regards to your business?
I was an elementary school teacher – I think teachers are amazing multi-taskers. That combined with being a mother prepared me to wear all the hats of an entrepreneur & business owner.

What do you believe sets your brand apart from competitors?
I believe La Plates creates products that clients will use for years to come. Our products are durable, reusable, but most of all they have fabulous, colorful designs! We also work really hard to understand our clients and what they want. If we don’t have exactly what they are looking for, we get to work and create something just for them. Often times, that’s how we come up with new products or design patterns – clients’ special requests.

What do you consider your greatest success?
We’ve had so many amazing things happen in the last five years. I’m so thankful for all the great people who have made it possible for La Plates to grow and thrive. The month that La Plates appeared in both House Beautiful & Elle Décor on full pages was pretty special, I would consider that a moment of feeling success.

What is your social media outlet of choice and why?
Oh wow, that’s a tough one …can I just say a 3-way tie between Instagram, Pinterest & Facebook? Instagram might top the list these days – I love editing pictures with the filters.

Thanks Lara! La Plates are on our list for entertaining, who wouldn't want to eat off their monogram.

Throw Some Confetti

I recently stumbled upon The Confetti Bar through Instagram (don't you love social media) and am quite obsessed. Who doesn't love a party and an excuse to throw pretty little bits of sparkles? Not only are these fun to order for an event but I'd love to send a package of confetti to a friend as a just because gift. What a fun surprise that would be to open!

But what I might enjoy even more is their new prints. They feature confetti cereal, ice cream and cupcakes! All my favorite food groups, and just how I like them!

Blogging Buds

I met Melissa of The Atelier blog about a year ago through Sweet Lemon Magazine. Us both being Philly gals obsessed with fashion I knew we had to be friends. Can you ever have enough fashionable friends? Melissa's beyond talented, in addition to being tres chic and having a blog I could spend hours on she also designs stationary. You have to check out her PS line and read on about her blogging life.

Why did you decide to start blogging?
I was looking for a creative outlet where I could focus on things I don’t at my day job … entertaining, fashion (my first love), interiors, etc. It’s a lot of fun to be able to write about what’s currently inspiring me.

How did you choose the name for your blog?
The word “atelier” means workshop in French, and ties in my love of fashion (many fashion houses have an atelier) with my love to create (and all things French!).

What motivates you to keep blogging?
Building relationships with readers and connecting with other bloggers across the country and world is one of the most rewarding things I’ve experienced. It’s really amazing when I share something on my blog and find out that someone out there has been inspired or can connect with what I’ve said.

What are some qualities you believe a blogger needs to posses?
I’d say any blogger (or entrepreneur) would need to be a self-starter, have patience (things don’t happen overnight), and a willingness to put themselves out there. It’s also really important to have your own voice and develop your own aesthetic!

What do you consider your greatest success?
Officially starting my business this year and seeing my designs featured by people and publications I admire and read daily.

What’s your social media outlet of choice and why?
Definitely Instagram. I love being able to see the world through other peoples’ eyes! (you can follow along @mnouc)

Thanks Melissa! I love a local Philly gal with a great sense of style. Be sure to check out The Atelier
