Totes, for sure! There's been an afflux of quirky canvas totes on the market. If you're like any other girl I know, a purse just won't suffice...you need more than one bag. I always have a tote with me just incase for my laptop, a change of clothes or a quick grocery trip (because I'm eco friendly like that, duh).
