Fun fact: a Stephanie Creekmur personalized address stamp was the absolute first thing I bought once I signed all the papers and officially bought my house (aka the huge renovation process known as #patriciaspalace). I just had to have one and nothing seemed to signify this journey better. Since then I've been a huge fan of Stephanie's, I've bought a similar stamp for my mom and introduced her to Miss Hattan Home at the last stationary show. PS. You can shop Stephanie's products on Hattan Home now!
Stephanie is such a sweet soul and her products emulate the same personality. I love her southern sayings prints and cards, I've grown up hearing them from my Mom-mom. I also admire how she's able to use her business to help others and share her faith. Something I often struggle with in today's world. Can't wait for you to hear more from Stephanie!
These days, there’s
nothing like receiving a handwritten letter in the mail. What is so important
to you about the lost art of letters and notes?
When you founded your online stationery company in
2009, what was the most difficult part of the launch?
When I first started my business I was attending The
Ohio State University and it was more like a hobby. I started with custom
design, though I quickly learned that was not the route for me. I guess the
hardest thing was figuring out exactly what it was I wanted to do. As creatives
we love to and are able to do a number of things but I think it’s important to
reel it in and find your niche. What is it that really sets your heart on fire?
I had no clue what I was doing when I started. I just dove in headfirst and
kept on swimming.
Piqued PR loves it all, but what is your favorite
product that you sell?
It’s hard for me to choose a favorite because
truthfully the products I design are born out of a need or want in my own life.
I really love everything and it covers my desk and walls. But, if I have to
pick a favorite I’d say my gold foil Hey Y’all print. I’ve been blessed with
some pretty huge online press and I think it’s been really crucial in getting
my shop on people’s radar.
You’re
currently trying to raise money for a water well in Haiti. Why is giving back
such a crucial part of your business?
I have been pretty blessed when it comes to my
business. I sometimes feel like I am flying by the seat of my pants and I know
there has to be a reason for any success I have that’s bigger than anything I’m
capable of. I don’t think we’re blessed in this life to keep it all for
ourselves and I just want to make sure that we are always giving back in some
way. Sure I love creating beautiful things, but being able to help others is
why I get up every morning and make it happen.
Where do you find the style and inspiration for your
products?
I have always been a big fan of bright colors and bold
patterns. I think I have a pretty strict color palette but I do pay attention
to the hot colors of the seasons and try to make it work with what we’re
already doing. I also look to nature a lot as well - flowers specifically!
The big question: Why stationery? What led you to
creating your business, Stephanie Creekmur?
My
business has definitely evolved through the years but I have always loved paper
and I love decorating my home. It’s just a natural fit for me and I know I that
I’m in the right business because I honestly can’t get enough. I don’t have
that much downtime but when I have it, I want to work on projects for the shop.
I love every minute of it.
Thanks Stephanie!
